Two bits of good news to report: firstly the General Register Office have announced that they are extending their pilot of providing PDF copies of birth certificates (1837 – 1917) and death certificates (1837 – 1957) indefinitely. These cost £6.00, quite a saving from the usual price of £9.25. Please note that they don’t look the same as the certificates you are used to, but the information is all there. You can get these by applying on the website www.gro.gov.uk
The second bit of really good news is that if you are struggling with your Christmas shopping, struggle no longer. It may be a bit of a squeeze for me to provide you with a lovely printed book of your family history to put under the tree this year, but how about a gift voucher? These are very popular, and enable the lucky recipient to ether have their family history researched for them, or to spend time with me learning how to do it themselves.
Happy Christmas to all family historians everywhere.
